AudioDope.com was started by Mike "AllNight" Long in 2008 as a way to promote underground DJs and their mixtapes in Iowa's burgeoning electronic music scene. Upon launch it was mostly studio mixes, but Mike quickly realized the need to archive and document the amazing talent of Iowa's underground DJ scene.

He bought an M-Audio FastTrack II recorder and began recording not only shows he was playing, but any event that would allow access to the record out from the mixer. Primarily recording Digital Perceptions and Solar Cathedral events, and only posting those recordings when the artist/DJ approved, AudioDope quickly became popular as the primary source for curated DJ mixes and live sets in the Iowa underground scene.
