Up this week a mix from veteran DJ and all around jackin’ junglist Nemo! This time around he switches things up a bit though, not to say this mix isn’t just as big as his priors, but it carries with it a smooth melodic vibe throughout that keeps you deeply entrenched in a feel good, UV laden, cozy state of mind. Oh wow-ee what a weekend. Terrence Parker at the Industry on Friday. Timefog, Pound Control and Kooky Scientist on Saturday Halloween night… One of the best party weekends our lovely state has seen since 515 Alive this past summer. AudioDope had the privilege of recording I Think I’m A Monster on Halloween night and we are proud to present sets from bTsunami, ACG3, Matt Rissi and Timefog.

Some of you may have not been aware but the show got off to a rocky start and everyone thought that we were getting shut down at midnight… well turns out that the venue owner thought we were ‘good kids’ and decided that it wouldn’t hurt a thing to let the show go all night. What a killer vibe we had going from midnight till 430am or so when the lights came on and I cant wait to see what Digital Perceptions has in store for us on NYE 2009.

Once again treading new ground this week with our first multi DJ mix featuring Jezze Jamz and Brad Goldman. This is what I’d call a tag team mix starting with Jesse laying down some solid remixes of tracks you are sure to recognize with plenty of his own edits and mashups and edits along the way. They switch at the ten minute mark and it’s full on house music with Brad Goldman allowing a nice cool down period before Jesse heats things up again. The mix goes back and forth in this fashion for the hour length with each DJ taking ten minutes then passing the decks. Also this mix was featured on the IC Essential Mix which airs every Friday night on KRUI 89.7 Iowa City with Avant Garde hosting

Jesse Jamz is not only an avid purveyor of booty bouncing bangers… but also a promoter and champion of the Des Moines club scene as well. He is also the Founder/Owner of 515 Entertainment Group which has booked many national touring club acts, the latest of which were Hot Pink Delorean. He has a weekly at the Des Moines Social Club called Wednesday Night MIX at 9:30 which feature himself as resident with a new special guest each week.

Brad Goldman has been a Des Moines regular for quite a while now, also performing at the summer festival 515 Alive. He also was in residency alongside DJ Oz at Aura Remixxed.

This weeks mix is a little different than the rest, in a good way though! It shows off the diversity that Lowcash a.k.a. Ken Corrigan is capable of. From smash dance hits of the past up til today, to dirty dubstep bangers this mix has a great vibe throughout.

Based out of Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Lowcash has been dubbed the “Gordon Ramsay” of Dubstep, which if I’m not mistaken, means he like to keep things cooking, and always hot. This weeks mix comes from Mel Richards who has experienced the Iowa scene from all angles and continues to be a driving force whether it be center stage, behind the scenes, or in front of the speakers raging it up with the rest of the party goers. His official bio reads like this:

“Originally hailing from Bootycall 9 a planet roughly one squadillion miles from the crab scratch nebula – Mel Richards now lives in exile on planet earth after the player hater wars of 2028 left his planet in shambles.”

Which should give you an idea of the kind of over the top and out of this world sound that he brings. In his Audiodope mixtape “Sexy” you should expect nothing less than masterful mixing, suberb song selection, and of course an all out audio assault. All alliteration aside (Oops, I did it again), Mel knows his genre front to back, and has the serious turntable skills to back it up. Plenty of new style fidget sounds, along with several throwback jams, will have you bobbing your head the whole way through.

Speaking of his event promotions, Mel and the rest of the team at Digital-Promotions are throwing what will be one of the biggest Halloween ragers in Iowa City on October 30 at The Industry (formerly the Q Bar).  Headlining the event is none other than Terrence Parker a.k.a. Trying something new this week. Tunnel Vision Vol. 1 -  Trance mix by Stevo.

This is the first installment to my newest series “Tunnel Vision”. What I set out to accomplish with this mix was a taste of variety and to do something different from the cookie cutter, single genre trance, techno and psy-trance mixes I’ve heard in the past couple years. Something that would keep all listeners enjoying it and keep them captivated with the music regardless to what they consider there “primary” listening genre. I also set out to make something that would challenge the listener and my self but would also be fun to listen to. This was achieved by mixing in a less then common way, mixing intros over breakdowns, bass less entry, and some quick mixing but with the touch and emphasis of making it sound seamless. I hope to continue this series and show people a little of what I see and what I feel when I listen to these tracks individually, and the ideas that I get from the tracks of how to make a set that I would want to hear. I also wanted to share with the listener the vision and warm feelings I get from these tracks and genres in particular and share the same feelings I get from creating a set such as this. Enjoy. Camp Euforia is an annual ‘JamBand-Esque’ festival held in Lone Tree Iowa every summer that has grown from a small fan-appreciation party to a full-blown, two-day sonic boom that showcases both local and national talent. The festival features 48 hours of music on two stages drawing the support of over a thousand music lovers. In 2008 it was determined that a DJ set fueled by techno was something that the line up was missing. Iowa producer/promoter/label owner & DJ Matt Rissi was undoubtedly the man for the job & he was booked to close down the main stage on Saturday night. This was a very important night for techno in Iowa as this was an opportunity to share a music that’s loved by so many with like minded individuals that had no idea of it’s local existence. His set delivered the moods, grooves & rhythms of the underground through the festival sound system with a dominating force that stirred up an energetic atmosphere that had never been felt at the camp. A night to remember, recorded to reminisce.

Kelix Williams is a seasoned veteran of the underground dance music scene.

As a DJ and performer, Kelix Williams has been rocking dancefloors for over 20years, from the late ’80s Chicago acid house nights to the psychedelic 90’s rave daysof San Francisco (Toon Town, A Rave Called Sharon, Cool World, Mr. Floppy’s FlopHouse, Love, Release, Anon Salon, and various warehouse parties) to the lushunderground clubs and exclusive VIP lounges of Los Angeles (The Viper Room,Shane, Playboy Mansion, The Room). Blending slick produced funky grooves withsexy soulful vocals and live musicians Kelix Williams knows how to keep your bodymovin’ and feelin’ the the vibe.

As a producer Kelix Williams has released numerous tracks over the years. In the90’s Tasti Box, Daisy Glow, The Floppy Disc Jockies, H20 and Grand Theft Audio area few of the names Kelix has placed his musical stamp on with releases on ZoeMagik, FFRR, La Casa Records, Clean Recordings, DHP (Deep House Project SF) and3rd Floor Productions the stable which spawned legends such as Jay-J, RaSoul, DRC,DJ EFX, DJ Digit, Neon Leon, and Aquatherium.

Kelix Williams is also known for his remixing skills, remixing top artists such as Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, Usher, TLC, Dr. Dre, Sade, and Prince.
