This is the recording from Noise Radio on KRUI 89.7Fm in Iowa City on Saturday March 13th 2010.
Being that it was the 313 weekend (313 is the area code in Detroit) the first part of this mix is dedicated to the old skool chicago and detroit house and techno sounds that i love from the late 80’s and 90’s. As you can see from the tracklist there are some major heavy hitters and underground goodies that some of you will remember from back in the day.
Some of it may sound dated now but these are classic tracks that should never be forgotten. I try not to preach old skool this or classic that (in fear of getting called ‘grandpa’ by @rissi) but the raw emotion in many of these records is rarely found in modern house and techno. Maybe this is because there is so much garbage to sift through now to find those gem like tracks that have a real vibe. The prolific changes brought on by computer based production and online distribution can be looked in many ways. The good thing is anyone with a computer can produce music. The bad thing is anyone with a computer can produce music. rant.EOF
